ABSTRACT
This article tackles the way the Afghan immgirants participate in the economic life in a medium sized Anatolian city, Uşak. Especially, more recently in Turkey the Syrian immgirants has become focal point within popular and schlolarly millieus and it seems that other immigrant groups have been marginalized and pushed to the invisibility. By incorporating the Afghan sphere, who constitute the second most populated immigrant group that appliy to asylum in Turkey following the Syrian group, it is aimed at demonstrating the diversity of immigrant population in Turkey which typically are homogenized at Syrian level in the media and political discourses. Throughout the article it will be discussed that Turkey is a country of immigration and the immigrant labour is tranformed into a useful instrument for choking wages. In this article based on the field research, qualitative research method and ethnographic observation were preferred. The universe of the field research is constituted by the Afhgans living in the Uşak province center. Within this scope, by using snowball technique, in depth interviews with 15 Afghan immigrants and official and NGO employees who deal with immigrants were done.
