ABSTRACT
The subject of this study is to investigate the union commitment levels of academics working in state universities in the context of demographic data. the survey method, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was applied In order to determine the union commitment levels of academicians. A questionnaire was used as a data collection tool in the research. The questionnaire consisted of demographic questions and and the union commitment scale consists of two parts, the union commitment scale (Gordon et al. 1982). As a result of the data collection process in the study, the survey data obtained from 416 unionized academicians were evaluated. In the research, the relationship between gender, union seniority, academic seniority and academic titles of academicians and union commitment was examined. In the analysis part of the data obtained, reliability analysis, factor analysis and validity, t test and ANOVA test were applied. As a result of the analysis, the average of the union commitment levels of the academicians was found to be 1.76±0.86. It was found that there was no statistically significant relationship between gender, academic seniority and academic title and union commitment. However, it has been observed that there is a significant relationship between union seniority and union loyalty, union responsibility and union effort, which are sub-dimensions of union commitment. It was concluded that as union seniority increased, the level of union loyalty, union responsibility and union effort of academicians decreased.
