ABSTRACT
This study is related to the General Public Health Law, which has taken part in the history of Turkish Occupational Health and Safety. This Law is one of the most important laws of the newly founded Republic of Turkey. Regulations concerning women and child workers were referred, although limitedly, in the Law. Conditions were challenging at the time of this Law. When addressing this Law, it is necessary not to ignore the specific conditions of the era. For that purpose, in this study, the discussions of the Assembly meetings of the period were examined. According to the minutes of the Assembly, the Law criticized by some of the deputies, on the contrary some of them appreciated it. This Law, which is consisting 309 articles, has been in force over 89 years, although some of the articles of it had been amended during time
