ABSTRACT
In Turkey the reasons such as changing employment structure, unemployment and problems caused by the unions are shown for the unions’ difficult times. In addition to these, the perspectives of the individuals who are in the working life is also important. For this reason, it is necessary to reveal the trade union perceptions of different age groups or generations in the labor market. The aim of this study is to reveal the perspectives of the private sector workers in Generation Y which identifies individuals born between 1980-1995. According to this, descriptive and predictive methods are used in the analysis of the data obtained from the 316 Y Generation workers in the private sector, which is considered as a sample in the Eskişehir universe. According to the results of the research, it is seen that the perception of union does not differ according to the gender and marital status. However, it is concluded that there are significant differences in the perception of union in other variables like educational level of the participants and parents, being a unionized in the family and the idea of unions protecting the rights of workers. In this study, it is thought that with being revealed perceptions of Y Generation workers in private sector will be the guiding of the unions about the strategies for reaching this generation which is the present and the future of the unions.
