ABSTRACT
With the increasing flexibilization of employment relations, part-time employment contracts have become more common. The Press Labour Law No. 5953 does not include any provisions on part-time employment. Although there are opposing views, the prevailing opinion is that the Turkish Code of Obligations (Law No. 6098) serves as a general law in relation to special labour laws. While this Code permits part-time contracts, it lacks specific rules on their conditions and content. The most detailed regulation on part-time work is found in the Labour Law No. 4857. Therefore, it is necessary to determine which provisions apply to journalists working under part-time contracts. A new regulation is needed to amend the Press Labour Law, addressing gaps related to part-time employment and other work arrangements of journalists, with due regard to their particular working conditions. Until such a change is made, relevant provisions of the Labour Law may be applied by analogy.
