ABSTRACT

In this article, I will focus on “economic mentality” concept that reawaken with the current global economic crisis. In generally economic mentality issue has been addressed in the tradition of Weberin sociology and Sombartian historical psychology. In this article contrary to this tradition, the concept of “economic mentality” is addressed from the perspective of Marxian critical political economy. In this context especially I will discuss on “capitalist” concept. I will analyse Vehbi Koç who is probably the most important capitalist of the development process of capitalism in Turkey. In this article, Vehbi Koç as a capitalist will be adressed as “personification of capital” that was developed by Marx in Das Kapital.
