ABSTRACT
This article is made up of findings of fieldwork carried out through indepth interviews with construction workers, subcontractors, association of construction workers, and the Union of Road Building and Construction Workers of Turkey Yol-Is into organization. The research in this article is into the questions why associations emerged as a way of organization among construction workers and how they are organized. Such experience of associations is studied in comparison with unionization. In addition to attempts at forming associations as a new experience, the article also discusses disorganization from viewpoints of both union and workers. How workers define organization in the forms of union and association, and effects of subcontracting-related labour relations on organization are also mentioned in the article. Other point discussed here is certain factors impeding solidarity among workers
