ABSTRACT
In this study, we analyze the factors that have impact on the number of strikes in Turkey for the 1963-1994 period. We determine the in dependent variables via the literature survey. The results of the regression analysis Show that unionization rate and type of goverment formation have affect on the number of strikes. We find a negativ erelationship between unionization rate and the number of strikes. The findings showt hat as unionization rate increases, institutionalization in creases and unions become stronger, that is, more stablerelations emerge. It is concluded that the widespread unionization has the potential to strengthen the tendency of reconciliation instead of in creasing the conflict. We also conclude that, the goverment formation effects the number of strikes
