ABSTRACT
Magnesium has become an increasingly important metal in the world with the development of heavy industry and modern technology. Because of its light weight and durability and low carbon footprint, magnesium, which is mainly used in the electronics, aerospace, defense and automotive industries, is indispensable for modern technology. Magnesium metal, which is on the list of the most important raw materials of the European Union, is recognized as a strategic product in many countries, especially in Europe. Magnesium metal is described as the” metal of the future ” and the only primary magnesium plant in Turkey and Europe started production in 2017, having been integrated in our country. Turkey has used the latest technological methods and equipment in the field of integrated magnesium production and the employees are inexperienced and do not have sufficient experience in the field of established machines and production processes and occupational safety risks. Most of the workers working on the magnesium production line were supplied from local people in nearby villages and districts, and some of the workers did not have any industrial experience. Every new machine, equipment, chemicals, tools and equipment entering the production process poses a threat to human health and Occupational Safety. In this study, in contrast to other metal production processes, potential hazards that pose a primary risk and may result in death or serious injury were identified and solutions were presented. In addition, 14 different risks were identified with the Fine Kinney risk method and the necessary precautions were determined
