ABSTRACT
Unions are organizations that aim to protect employees‘social rights. Unionization process in Turkey has started firstly with the labor movements. With the Constitution of 1961, public servants has been given to establish public servant unions and first public servant unions was established in 1965 Changes in the Constitution, in the law about unionizations and government changes have led to disruption of public unionizations in different periods. In particular, the increasing unionization of public servants in the 2000s also affected health care workers in the health sector. Today, 348 571 health civil servants are union members and there are 21 unions in the health sector. The unionization rate is about 73.67% of health care workers. Sağlık-Sen, Türk Sağlık-Sen and SES are the unions that have the most members in the health sector, respectively. In the study the historical development of unionization, the unionization process of public health workers and the unions that have the most number in the health sector will be examined.
